The Washington Wizards hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, giving them full freedom to chose from the top of this year's stacked class.
As Round 1 of the 2026 draft quickly approaches, AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson are widely considered the Wizards' top-2 options. Both highly-touted prospects have visited with the franchise.
Peterson only visited with the Wizards, according to a report from ESPN NBA insiders Shams Charania and Jeremy Woo earlier this week. Dybantsa visited with both the Wizards and the Utah Jazz, who hold the No. 2 overall pick in the draft.
Wizards legend John Wall knows who he would pick if it were up to him.
"For me, I'm taking Darryn Peterson No. 1," Wall said. "But I've got AJ Dybantsa second."

Peterson played somewhat sparingly in his one-and-done collegiate season with the Kansas Jayhawks, dealing with a variety of injury issues. But when he did take the court, he exhibited flashes of his NBA-ready talent.
Peterson, a 6-foot-6 guard, averaged 20.2 points through 29 minutes per game for the Jayhawks — shooting 43.8% from the field and 38.2% from behind the 3-point arc.

Dybantsa is widely viewed as a franchise-altering pick in this year's selection process. In his freshman season with the BYU Cougars, the 6-foot-9 guard led the Big 12 with 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game — earning All-American First Team honors.
Round 1 of the 2026 NBA Draft will begin on June 23.
