The Minnesota Vikings have a quarterback battle on their hands. Will Kyler Murray or J.J. McCarthy start in 2026? That'll be a fun competition to watch, but one NFL analyst is hoping Murray makes the cut and says that he'll be the more entertaining quarterback to follow during the season.
In a story for USA Today published on Friday, June 12, Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz lists every NFL team from most to least entertaining. Now, this is subjective, of course. He notes that "there's no universal standard for football aesthetics."

"While transactions have mostly slowed to a trickle, the period before training camps doesn't tend to lend a lot of insight into the state of teams," he adds. "Prior to practices starting in a more formal summer setting, it can be difficult to make substantive assertions about the upcoming campaign. But summer is meant to be a time of fun, so let's assess each franchise on how amusing each team might be in the fall."

"Assuming Kyler Murray wins the starting job, Minnesota – which has finished in the top 10 in scoring twice under Kevin O'Connell – might be fun again in short order," he says in the piece. "Meanwhile, Brian Flores has entrenched the defense as one of the most surprising and fluid units in all of football."

Frankly, I think McCarthy would be equally fascinating to watch in 2026. He has something to prove after his first two season in the NFL, the first of which he didn't even get to play, so he'll be more motivated than ever. But, either way, the Vikings should be a good watch.
