ESPN believes the Baltimore Ravens need to sign quarterback Lamar Jackson to a new, lucrative contract before the start of the 2026 season.
In a new column revealing the one move every team needs to make, the Worldwide Leader suggested a new deal would help solve the team's cap issues and needs to happen before the season begins.
"Right now, Jackson is scheduled to have a cap hit of $84.3 million in 2027. That's not going to happen. Jackson also isn't going anywhere but Baltimore. Jackson doesn't like to talk about his contract status, but it's pretty clear that an extension of some sort is coming to solve the cap issue. The Ravens might as well get it done before the season begins," ESPN said.

There might be a slight problem with that, though. The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec is reporting the holdup on a potential new deal is coming from Jackson's side of things.
"I think the Ravens are more than ready. I think the ball's in Lamar's court. I don't get the sense, at least I didn't recently, that there's even been extensive talks," he reported this week.
"And I think that's not because they're not on the same page or that Lamar was turned off by an offer. I don't know what it is, but I think there's something kind of prompting Lamar to wait."
Zrebiec suggested Jackson could be waiting to see what life looks like in his new offense before signing a new deal.
