President Donald Trump secured a string of endorsement victories in Tuesday's Republican contests, though a high-profile loss in Georgia underscored that his backing is not always enough to guarantee victory.

Trump-endorsed candidates won major Senate contests in Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma, extending a strong record for the president's preferred candidates in 2026: Barry Moore prevailed in Alabama’s runoff; Mike Collins won Georgia’s; and Kevin Hern took Oklahoma’s Senate primary.

But Georgia Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones, one of Trump's highest-profile gubernatorial picks this cycle, fell short in his runoff against businessman Rick Jackson.

Trump has played an unusually active role in Republican primaries, personally endorsing candidates across Senate, House and gubernatorial races. Tuesday's results offered a fresh measure of how much influence those endorsements still carry—and where their limits may be emerging.

Mixed Fortunes for Trump Picks in Georgia and Alabama

The night's biggest setback for Trump came in Georgia, where Jackson defeated Jones 52.7 percent to 47.4 percent, according to Associated Press (AP) results.

Jackson, a healthcare executive making his first run for office, spent roughly $100 million of his own money and overcame endorsements for Jones from both Trump and outgoing Governor Brian Kemp.

Trump congratulated Jackson in a Truth Social post, writing: "Rick Jackson ran a great TRUMP Campaign. Very smart! Was with me on Saturday Night making a pitch. Amazing!!! He won against a great guy, Burt Jones, who has a fantastic future"

In Alabama, U.S. Representative Barry Moore won the state’s Republican runoff for U.S. Senate on Tuesday, defeating former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson 55.8 percent to 44.2 percent, according to the AP.

Moore is a three-term congressman and House Freedom Caucus member endorsed by Trump. He advances to the fall election for the open seat being vacated by Senator Tommy Tuberville, who is running for governor.

'Lot of Big Election Wins'

Trump shared multiple posts on Truth Social as the results were announced, drawing attention to wins and advancements by candidates he had endorsed in the contests.

"I had a lot of big election wins last night," the president wrote on the platform. "Thank you to all," he added.

Among the results highlighted by Trump were:

  • Kevin Hern: Oklahoma U.S. Senate
  • T.W. Shannon: Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor
  • Mike Mazzei: Oklahoma Governor
  • Tom Cole: Oklahoma’s 4th Congressional District
  • Frank Lucas: Oklahoma’s 3rd Congressional District
  • Josh Brecheen: Oklahoma’s 2nd Congressional District
  • Jackson Lahmeyer: Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District
  • Mike Collins: Georgia U.S. Senate
  • Barry Moore: Alabama U.S. Senate
  • John Wahl: Alabama Lieutenant Governor

Trump Endorsement No Longer Untouchable

While Trump's preferred candidates won most of Tuesday's major contests, the loss of Jones ensured the night was not a clean sweep.
