The World Cup officially kicked off with games in its three host countries on Thursday and Friday, including Mexico's opening 2-0 win over South Africa, Canada tying Bosnia-Herzegovina in their home opener, 1-1, and the United States taking on Paraguay in California.
More teams will get started this weekend and next week in the Group Stage, including the highly anticipated first 2026 World Cup game for international superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal. This marks Ronaldo's sixth appearance in the FIFA event, as he continues to chase that elusive trophy.
The 41-year-old Ronaldo and Portugal officially arrived at their destination on Friday, landing in Palm Beach International Airport, and drawing plenty of attention after footage of them touching down hit the internet.
One video shows Ronaldo, sharply dressed and looking like all business as he exits his team's plane ahead of next week's first game against Congo DR, a team they're heavily favored to defeat.

As expected, seeing one of the all-time greats in international football arrive in America for the massive FIFA event drew plenty of reactions from fans.
"Okay the World Cup has officially started the main attraction has arrived Ladies & Gentlemen," a commenter wrote.
"With the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Jordan is no longer the greatest athlete in America," someone commented.
Others said, "They have arrived to win it, Bruno will help the GOAT win it," and "The GOAT is here to take what belongs to him."
Additional photos revealed Ronaldo and teammates carrying bags off the Air Portugal flight and looking all smiles after their travel to the United States.
In addition to representing his country, Ronaldo famously captains the Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. He's previously starred for the teams Manchester United, Juventus, and Real Madrid.
However, a World Cup has managed to stay outside of his grasp, although many believe it's possibly Portugal could be the ones to claim this year's win.
They're part of Group K, which, in addition to Congo DR, features Uzbekistan and Colombia, with the latter team a squad that could prevent Portugal from winning the group.
This will be the aging Ronaldo's final attempt to claim a win in the World Cup. Portugal is the favorite to claim their group, and as of this writing, they are still among the top tour favorites to win the World Cup, sitting fourth behind England, France, and the odds-on-favorites, Spain.
Should they manage to advance deep into the tournament, it could be due to the performance of their biggest star, but they have plenty of other major weapons on a talented roster. That includes attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes, whom ESPN listed among the top five players competing in the World Cup.
