The Kansas City Chiefs took a step back as a whole last season, finishing third in the AFC West and missing the playoffs with a 6-11 record.
The dismal result was a combination of several players having uncharacteristically poor performances, and Xavier Worthy was one of the key starters that struggled in 2025.
The 2024 first-round pick showed promise as a rookie when he recorded 59 receptions for 638 yards and six touchdowns. He took a step back last season, recording 42 catches for 532 yards and one touchdown in 14 games played.
Worthy dealt with a shoulder injury throughout the season. He had surgery to repair his shoulder in January. He believes his abilities on offense were limited due to his shoulder.

"I'd definitely say that's not a true indication of what I am," Worthy said, via the Kansas City Star. "I was limited in certain things. I want to come back out here and show my ability and what I can do."
Worthy thought the Chiefs as a team didn't do what they needed to do last season.
The receiver corps didn't put up great numbers last season. Hollywood Brown had the most receiving yards for a wide receiver with 587 yards. Tight end Travis Kelce actually led the Chiefs in receiving with 76 receptions for 851 yards and five touchdowns.
Brown is with the Philadelphia Eagles this season. With questions surrounding Rashee Rice this summer, Kansas City will need Worthy to improve in 2026 if the team hopes to return to the playoffs.
Worthy is focused on proving he deserved to be a first-round pick.
"Obviously I know the kind of player I can be," Worthy said. "The things I can do on the field and what I can bring to the team."
Worthy has plenty of talent, and the Chiefs hope to unlock more of it as he returns with a full bill of health.
