In “Toy Story 5,” the Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang face an existential crisis after technology takes priority over playtime. Now that the film has set its Disney+ premiere date for Sept. 23, it’s only fitting that fans of the beloved franchise can now watch it on their own tablets.

In addition, Disney announced that a new music video for the piano version of Taylor Swift’s original song “I Knew It, I Knew You” — featuring footage from “Toy Story 5” — is now available to watch on Disney+, Spotify and Apple Music. The record-breaking number-one hit single is performed by Swift and written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff.

“Toy Story 5” released in theaters on June 19 and quickly continued the long-running franchise’s success with strong reviews from both critics and audiences. The instant Pixar hit earned $159 million domestically in its opening weekend and has become the highest-grossing “Toy Story” film (not adjusted for inflation) ever — with a $1.13 billion take at the global box office to date.

The fifth film reunited Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and Jessie (Joan Cusack) as the toys go on a new adventure to ensure that Bonnie (Scarlett Spears) is still interested in playing with them after being gifted the addicting tablet Lilypad (Greta Lee). Variety‘s chief film critic Owen Gleiberman gave the film a glowing review, writing that it “escalates in delight” while having moments that “hit you like a gut punch.”

“Toy Story 5” was the third 2026 release to surpass $1 billion following “Michael” and “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” Since then, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and “The Odyssey” quickly joined that exclusive club.

The “Toy Story” adventures began back in 1995 with the release of the first film. It’s one of the rare animated franchises to still retain much of its original voice cast from decades ago, with Hanks, Allen and Cusack (who joined in “Toy Story 2”) returning for the sequels.

“Toy Story 5” is directed by Andrew Stanton; co-directed by Kenna Harris; produced by Lindsey Collins and Jessica Choi; and written by Stanton and Harris from a story by Stanton. The PG-rated film is currently available for purchase on digital platforms and will be available on 4K UHD and Blu-Ray Disc on Sept. 22.
