A Washington state teacher accused of having sex with two of her teenage adopted sons was busted after her estranged husband handed in a slew of twisted texts between her and one of the boys, authorities said.
Amber Swain, 35, of Newport, was charged with incest earlier this month after the ex exposed her alleged sexual relationships with the 17- and 18-year-old boys, according to court documents.
In a sexually charged text message, one of Swain’s adopted sons told her he wanted to sleep in her bed “again, just once,” according to the documents obtained by the Daily Mail.
“No,” she wrote back, according to a probable cause affidavit. “I love you so much.”
“Nothing like that is ever going to happen. You will find someone who you love being with like that and care about,” she said.
The mom of six — who is also a former executive director of Spokane Angels, a non-profit that helps foster kids — is accused of beginning a sexual relationship with one of the boys in December, when he was just 17, the outlet reported.
She adopted one of the boys after first meeting him as a struggling third-grader in her classroom in 2017, authorities said.
In police interviews with the unidentified teens, one of her adopted sons alleged that he’d had sex with her “many times,” including just two days earlier, the court documents state.
The unidentified teen said Swain had allegedly asked him, “Should we be doing this?” during their first encounter and he responded, “Yes.”
The boy who texted Swain saying he “wanted it to happen again” told investigators he grew suspicious that his mom was also having sex with his brother after finding her underwear on his sibling’s bedroom floor and discovering them in a locked room together.
He said he fell asleep in Swain’s bed one night and woke to find her climbing in beside him, according to the outlet.
He told police it was “normal” for them because they had “cuddled since he was young,” the court documents state.
“Things got handsy, that’s all I’m going to say,” he said when officers pressed for specifics.
He described putting his hand inside Swain’s clothing and that they “changed positions several times.”
He said that she moved his hand away after two minutes, told him they could not do this, and they then stopped.
Asked about the incident, Swain first denied any sexual contact with her adopted son.
She later said the boy had touched her leg while she was asleep and that she froze and moved it away twice.
Eventually, she allegedly told cops she did not know why but she “leaned in,” adding that she was “like half asleep or something” before pushing his hand away.
Swain also denied having a sexual relationship with the other boy but eventually admitted to having sex with him starting in February of this year, according to the affidavit.
Detectives informed her the victim said their sexual relationship started in December, making him 17 at the time.
Swain was arrested on suspicion of first- and second-degree incest June 2 after her estranged husband, with whom she’s separated, handed over the text messages to Washington’s Department of Children, Youth and Families.
Swain was placed on administrative leave from Pend Orville River School, the Newport School District’s alternative high school, after her arrest.
Swain was previously an executive director of the nonprofit Spokane Angels and built a public profile advocating for foster children, authorities said.
She pleaded not guilty at her arraignment on June 8 and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
She is due to stand trial Oct. 6.
