San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson was left scratching his head after the team squandered a 29-point lead in a 107-106 loss to the New York Knicks.
"[It's] at the top of the list just in terms of the circumstances and stakes of what we're playing for," Johnson said after watching his team blow a historic lead. "To put as much good work into that first half as we did, get the lead that we had and not finish the job is disappointing to say the least."
San Antonio had a chance to put the game away late, but point guard De'Aaron Fox made a fateful decision that opened the door for New York.

With 13.1 seconds remaining and San Antonio clinging to a one-point lead, the veteran point guard sprinted to the rim for a layup that could have put the Spurs up by three points. Instead of giving his team the lead, though, Fox opened the door for OG Anunoby to close fast and eventually block the layup attempt.
The veteran point guard could have just dribbled some of the clock away and waited until he eventually got fouled, but in the end he helped set the Knicks up for their game-winning shot – a tip-in by Anunoby.
San Antonio now trails 3-1 in the series as it shifts back to home court for Game 5, which tips off on Saturday, June 13 at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
