Former reality television star Spencer Pratt has posted to social media following his defeat in the Los Angeles mayoral race earlier this week.

Pratt, who had emerged as an unexpected contender during the campaign, posted a photo of a duck floating in water with a sunset in the background on X Tuesday night, in what appears to mark his first public post to social media since the final vote count confirmed his loss. There was no caption or explanation for the photo offered by Pratt in the post.

The race was called for Nithya Raman at 7:55 p.m. ET Monday, according to the Associated Press, and the progressive city councilmember is now in position to join incumbent Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, a Democrat, in the November runoff.

As of 8:54 p.m. ET Tuesday, Bass had 34.3 percent of the votes, Raman collected 29 percent, and Pratt trailed with 25.5 percent with 98 percent of the votes counted.

Newsweek reached out to Pratt's campaign via online form on Tuesday night for comment.

What To Know

Pratt's defeat comes after a closely watched primary in which Raman secured a place in the runoff against Bass. For several days, Pratt seemingly appeared to be in contention as ballots continued to be counted, but the final results shifted in favor of Raman. The outcome has now reshaped the race and set up a November showdown between two established figures in Los Angeles politics.

Although his mayoral bid ultimately ended in defeat, his unconventional campaign attracted widespread media attention and generated significant discussion online. Pratt was outspoken about city leadership following the deadly fires in Los Angeles County last year, which ultimately burned down his home.

His post-election photo on X Tuesday night had over 335,000 views and over 1,000 replies as of 9:42 p.m. ET.

Newsweek looked over Pratt's social media, including X, TikTok, YouTube and Instagram, and this appears to be his first permanent post since the race was called for Raman.

This is a developing story that will be updated with additional information.
