Two consumer product recalls affecting items sold through Walmart—both in stores and online—are raising safety concerns ranging from potentially fatal incidents of furniture tipping over to burn injuries, according to notices published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Unstable Walmart Dressers

Walmart has recalled about 165,000 Mainstays-branded 9-drawer fabric dressers after federal regulators determined they pose a serious tipping and entrapment hazard, particularly for children.

Where and When They Were Sold

The dressers were sold nationwide in Walmart stores and on Walmart.com from September 2023 through March 2026 for about $80.

What Is the Issue?

Although no injuries or incidents have been reported so far, the furniture is unstable if it’s not anchored to a wall, meaning it can tip forward and trap or crush a child, leading to serious injury or death.

The product also violates federal safety standards under the STURDY Act, which is designed to prevent these types of incidents.

Check if You Have One: Product Details

The fabric dressers can be identified by the following features:

  • It has a black metal frame with nine fabric drawers, which can be either black or brown
  • The dresser is about 40 inches deep, 45 inches tall, and just under 14 inches wide.
  • It will have the label Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dresser on the packaging
  • The recalled dressers were manufactured from September 2023 through to December 2025, and this manufacturing date can be found, in MM/YYYY format, on a label, under the top panel of the dresser

What Consumers Should Do

If consumers are concerned that they may have the recalled dresser, the CPSC notice recommends they:

  • Stop using it immediately if the unit is not anchored to a wall
  • Keep the dresser away from children
  • Return the black/brown fabric draws to a Walmart store and dispose of the black metal frame.

Portable Steam Saunas Recalled Over Burn Hazard

In a separate recall, Giantex has pulled about 1,000 portable steam saunas, which were sold online at Walmart (and Amazon) under the Giantex or Costway brand names, due to a risk of burns from exposure to hot steam.

Where and When They Were Sold

The products were sold online via Walmart and Amazon from January 2023 through December 2025, priced between $68 and $100.

What Is the Issue?

The CPSC says the sauna’s steam diffuser can be positioned too close to the user’s body, allowing scalding steam to make direct contact with skin, creating a serious burn hazard.

The agency reported that it had received multiple incident reports, with nine consumers reporting “burns to their extremities,” including one second-degree burn.

The Product Details

The recalled saunas have the following identifiable features:

  • All saunas are tent-style enclosures, which connect to a steam unit via tubing
  • They come in multiple colors, including black, beige, blue, green, and pink, and will have the brand name Giantex or Costway printed on the front
  • The saunas come in a set which includes accessories like a folding chair, foot roller, mat, and a remote control
  • The affected saunas will carry one of the following model numbers, which can be found on the packaging:
    • BA7635US-BK
    • BA7635US-CF
    • BA7635US-GR
    • BA7635US-NY
    • BA7733US-BK
    • BA7733US-CF
    • BA7733US-GR
    • BA7733US-PI
    • BA7579US-BK
    • BA7579US-CF
    • BA7579US-GR

What Consumers Should Do

The CPSC is advising customers to stop using the sauna immediately, unplug the device, cut the power cord, and then submit photo evidence of the destroyed product to Giantex to get a full refund.

Why These Recalls Matter

Furniture tip-overs remain one of the leading causes of injury and death among young children, while improperly designed heating devices can clearly lead to serious burn injuries.
