People Inc., home to brands including People and Entertainment Weekly, is the latest media company to make job cuts.
On Thursday, People Incorporated CEO Neil Vogel announced in an internal memo that the company is laying off 195 people “across our offices.” The cuts represent roughly 6% of the publishing company’s total headcount. “The vast majority of those affected today are in our print and legacy web businesses, as we continue to evolve for a prosperous future,” he said in the memo, a copy of which was obtained by Variety.
“The rapid changes in media are evident to us all, and require us to be constantly changing as well,” Vogel said in the note. He said that People Inc. has added 320 new employees to date in 2026, “and we plan to continue making meaningful investments in 2027.”
The company’s brands include People, EW, InStyle, Investopedia, Better Homes & Gardens, The Spruce, Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, Martha Stewart, Byrdie, Real Simple, Southern Living, Allrecipes, MyRecipes, Serious Eats, EatingWell, Parents, Verywell and Mind Health.
In the second quarter of 2026, People Inc.’s revenue declined 2% to $416.7 million; total digital revenue was up 6% to $289.9 million while print dropped 16% to %132.6 million. The group’s total digital sessions in Q2 were 1.89 billion, down 23% year over year.
People Inc. is a unit of People Incorporated (formerly IAC), headed by chairman and senior executive Barry Diller. Separately, the company also owns a majority stake in the Daily Beast. People Incorporated is scheduled to report Q3 results next Tuesday, Nov. 3, before market open.
In 2021, IAC acquired Meredith in a $2.7 billion deal, three years after Meredith bought Time Inc. (and following Meredith’s sale of titles including Time, Fortune and Sports Illustrated). Formerly called Dotdash Meredith, the publishing group changed its name to People Inc. in July 2025.

Team –
Today, we are making staffing reductions that affect 195 people across our offices. HR and business leaders have scheduled 1:1 meetings with those who are impacted and we are committed to a smooth transition. We are grateful to those leaving the company for their contributions.
The rapid changes in media are evident to us all, and require us to be constantly changing as well. We have significantly increased investments in a host of new projects as we continue to align the company with our biggest opportunities. The vast majority of those affected today are in our print and legacy web businesses, as we continue to evolve for a prosperous future.
We remain optimistic about our businesses and confident in our plans. We’ve added 320 new employees so far in 2026, expanding our talent and capabilities across the company, and we plan to continue making meaningful investments in 2027.
We will have an All-Hands in the coming weeks (after Q3 earnings are announced) to discuss the path ahead and focus for 2027.
