LeBron James just finished up his 23rd NBA season, entering unrestricted free agency following his eighth campaign as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 41-year-old NBA superstar has three options as he ponders his NBA future: retire, re-sign with the Lakers or sign with another team in free agency.

According to ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst — who's covered James since his high school days at St. Vincent-St. Mary — the all-time great player is focused on reaching a new deal with the Lakers.

"I think LeBron James' intention is to play, and I think the focus right now is making a deal with the Lakers," Windhorst said during a radio appearance with ESPN Cleveland on Tuesday. "Right now, he's allowed to negotiate with the Lakers, and I believe they are negotiating. I believe they're going back and forth."

"In the next 14 days, I think he's going to try to make a deal with the Lakers," Windhorst continued.

James continued to play at an elite level in his 23rd NBA season, averaging 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game for the Lakers. The four-time league MVP shouldered a heavy load in the playoffs as both Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves were sidelined by injuries.
