In the City star Danielle Olivera is comparing Amanda Batula to Lauren Conrad. But, instead of being forever known as “the girl who didn’t go to Paris” for a man, Olivera said Batula is the girl who “shouldn’t have gone to Rome” with West Wilson.
As Bravo fans know, Batula and Wilson released a joint statement in late March confirming their romance. Since then, they’ve been out and about, making appearances at bars in New York City’s West Village, at the Yankees Game, and, most recently, at a friend’s wedding in Italy.
The timing of the couple’s getaway was oddly suspicious, with fans spotting them at the airport the day before the first part of the Summer House reunion was set to air.
“What was it? The Hills? Where she’s like, ‘She should have gone to Paris.’ I feel like she shouldn’t have gone to Rome,” Olivera cheekily told DECIDER over a recent Zoom interview. “That’s how I feel right now. I just wish she would do something on her own.”
Per Olivera, Batula “doesn’t have great relationships” with the cast of In the City in the wake of her romance with Wilson, who had previously dated her ex-BFF Ciara Miller. But that doesn’t mean Olivera, who infamously announced her distrust of Batula back in Summer House Season 7, is going to kick her to the curb.
“I think that for me, and this is because of how I was raised, you just don’t give up on people,” Olivera said. “I think that she has a ton of growing to do and a ton of learning. I wish she would do that without West.”
While Olivera is open to repairing things with Batula, she would not want Wilson to join their friend group for future iterations of the show. “I would not want that coupling to be in my face on In the City, because I will have an opinion,” she said. “You know me, I’ll just put my foot in it. I wish she would just do it independently.”

While Batula insisted that she and Wilson were strictly friends at that point in time, Olivera believes there may have been some “subconscious feelings” between them, especially after watching the latest season of Summer House.
“It feels like there were feelings there, or it feels like subconscious feelings,” she said. “There was definitely something there. Whether or not she wants to face it or admit it. It could have been just super friendly. You could say that you were thinking you were friends, but you don’t have that many guy friends. I know you didn’t have that many guy friends, right? You were leaning on him as more than that.”
In the City airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
