We've now seen all 48 nations of the 2026 World Cup play at least one match, and on Thursday, three players stood above the rest across four games that took place in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
As we do after every night of the World Cup, here are the three players on the podium for the best performances on Day 7 of the World Cup.

Bronze Star: Luis Diaz (Colombia)
Diaz has been in incredible form for German giant Bayern Munich, and even without Harry Kane or Michael Olise, the Colombian star showed why he's one of the most dangerous attackers at the tournament. Following a goal by Uzbekistan that quieted the pro-Colombian crowd in Mexico City, Diaz sprung to life and put his team back in the lead with a confident strike that has propelled his team to the top of the group.
Silver Star: Harry Kane (England)
Diaz's teammate over at Bayern also flexed his muscle in his opening game of the World Cup, scoring a brace against Croatia that exacted a little bit of revenge for England's elimination in the semifinals eight years ago.
Kane looked like he was going to get off on the wrong foot when his opening penalty kick was saved, but after getting a second chance due to a goalkeeper violation, the English ace was off to the races for his team. If this is the Kane we're getting in North America, maybe the World Cup, after 60 long years, might actually be coming home.
Gold Star: Yoane Wissa (DR Congo)
Was Wissa better than either Diaz or Kane? No.
Will he be better than either the rest of the tournament? Almost certainly not.
Did he score his nation's first ever goal at the World Cup and help his team secure a point against heavy favorite Portugal? Yes, and that's why he's getting the top spot for Day 7.
Sorry, Bayern boys.
