Euphoria fans have watched the cast change on and off screen since the series first debuted. Based on the Israeli series of the same name, Euphoria follows troubled high school student Rue (Zendaya) as she struggled to remain sober after rehab. The series also explores topics including mental illness, toxic relationships, sexuality and more. After its premiere in 2019, the show’s ensemble cast, which includes Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Colman Domingo quickly skyrocketed to fame. The HBO series was quickly renewed for a second season, but it took nearly three years for the episodes to air, with the network ordering two individual specials about the aftermath of Rue and Jules’ (Schafer) breakup in the meantime. Euphoria's third season was originally set to air on HBO in 2025 before it faced several delays, including creator Sam Levinson’s commitment to his short-lived series The Idol. The delay was extended during the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which took place in late 2023. “We’ve been through strikes before, you know, they increase the cost,” HBO CEO Casey Bloys said in November 2023 about production costs. “I don’t see a scenario where I go, ‘Well, I was going to make another tentpole show, but now I’m not going to because we have to pay X amount more.’ I don’t think it works like that.” Scroll down to see then-and-now photos of the Euphoria stars:

The actress already had an extensive resume before taking on the lead role of Rue on Euphoria. Zendaya's performance made her the youngest recipient of the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, which she won twice. She has remained busy in between production on Euphoria with roles in the Spider-Man franchise, Malcolm & Marie, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Dune, Challengers and the upcoming film The Drama.

Zendaya has been in an on and off relationship with her Spider-Man costar Tom Holland since 2017. After their brief split, Zendaya was linked to Elordi in 2020, whom she worked with on Euphoria. She later rekindled her romance with Holland. 

In addition to playing Jules on Euphoria, Schafer has had roles in Belle, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Cuckoo and Kinds of Kindness. She is also set to appear in the upcoming TV series Blade Runner 2099.

Schafer briefly dated singer Rosalía in 2019, which they confirmed five years later. The actress found love with Euphoria costar Dominic Fike but they called it quits in 2023 after more than one year of dating. 

Sweeney's performance as Cassie on Euphoria was just the beginning as she went on to star in the first season of The White Lotus, which earned her nominations for two Emmy Awards. Sweeney starred in movies such as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Nocturne, Night Teeth, Reality and Madame Web before expanding into an executive producer on her projects. Anyone But You and Immaculate allowed Sweeney to be in front of and behind the camera. 

Sweeney has been engaged to businessman Jonathan Davino since 2023.

Since joining Euphoria, Demie hasn't only played Maddy. She had a cameo on The Idol and Fantasmas. On the big screen, Demie has starred in Waves, Mainstream and Nineteen on Fire. Demie also collaborated with photographer Petra Collins on a collection of erotic short stories, which contain photos of her dressed as various mythical creatures. 

Elordi stole the screen while playing Nate on Euphoria. He subsequently pivoted to the big screen by booking projects such as Deep Water, He Went That Way, Saltburn, Priscilla, Oh, Canada, On Swift Horses and Frankenstein. Elordi is also set to star in The Narrow Road to the Deep North limited series, which is based on the novel of the same name by Richard Flanagan.

Elordi has been linked to Zendaya, Kaia Gerber and Joey King. He is currently dating YouTuber Olivia Jade, who is the daughter of Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli. 

After getting her start in modeling, Ferreira joined the cast of Euphoria as Kat. She appeared on two seasons before announcing she wouldn't return for more installments. Despite reports of alleged disagreements with series creator Levinson, Ferreira later denied the rumors. 

Ferreira has scored roles on Unpregnant, Nope, House of Spoils, Faces of Death and Mile End Kicks.

Ferreira previously dated artist Gus Dapperton and was in a relationship with musician Elle Puckett from 2019 to 2022.

The elder daughter of Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, Maude got her start as a child actress before booking the role of Lexi on Euphoria. She has since appeared in The King of Staten Island, One of Them Days and Oh. What. Fun. Maude has also appeared on stage in Little Shop of Horrors and Cabaret.

Maude previously dated music producer Charlie Christi before finding love with Patrick Gibson.

The actor remained booked and busy after being cast on Euphoria. Cloud booked roles in North Hollywood, The Line, Your Lucky Day, Freaky Tales and Abigail. In July 2023, Cloud died at age 25 following an accidental overdose. Season 3 of Euphoria is expected to address the fate of his character Fezco.

For his role as Ali on Euphoria, Domingo won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. He has since appeared on The Madness and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. On the big screen, Domingo has starred on Zola, Candyman, Rustin, Sing Sing, The Color Purple, Drive-Away Dolls and Michael.

Domingo has been married to husband Raúl Domingo since 2014.

Walton is best known for his portrayal of Ashtray on Euphoria. He has continued to act — in addition to his boxing career — in Utopia, The Umbrella Academy and Under the Bridge.
