Curaçao has a population around 158,000 people.

While they made it to the World Cup for the first time ever, they weren't expected to do much. When they scored against Germany in their opening game, it was a massive success for the island nation even if the final result was 7-1 in the favor of the four-time world champions.

But on Saturday, Curaçao decided they weren't going to be an easy out again for any team, even for one of the dark-horse teams of the tournament in Ecuador.

Ecuador, with one of the best defenses at the World Cup, were sturdy on that side of the ball but lost on the offensive end. The South American country tried their best, throwing everything and the kitchen sink at Curaçao Eloy Room, but they couldn't get ball past the 37-year-old.

Room, who plays for Miami FC in the United States -- no, not the Lionel Messi team -- in their second division, had a performance of a lifetime, saving 15 shots en route to his team getting their first-ever World Cup point in a draw against Ecuador.

It wasn't just a great game by Room, but a historic game from the Miami goalkeeper, recording the most saves in a single game that didn't go into extra time in World Cup history since statistics began getting officially recorded in 1966.

The only goalie to ever save more in a game is the United States' Tim Howard, who blocked 16 shots a little over a decade ago at the 2014 World Cup against Belgium in the Round of 16.

Room has already gained over 500,000 followers on Instagram since the final whistle in the game against Ecuador.

Now, with one point to their name, Curaçao can aim for history in their final group game against the Ivory Coast.

They scored their first goal against Germany. They got their first point against Ecuador. And if they get their first World Cup win versus Ivory Coast, they'll make it to the Round of 32.
