The Arizona Cardinals have reached a deal to keep one of their starting offense lineman with the team for the foreseeable future.

Center Hjalte Froholdt, who had only started six games in the NFL after originally coming out of college as a guard in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft before signing a two-year deal with the Cardinals back in March 2023, has been given a two-year, $20 million extension by the franchise as of Tuesday Aug. 25.

"Sources: The AZCardinals and C Hjalte Froholdt have agreed to terms on a 2-year, $20M contract extension, keeping him in the fold through the 2028 season." Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday. "One of their most consistent performances and anchors of their O-lines gets rewarded."

As Rapoport noted, Froholdt has been one of the better and more consistent offensive linemen on the Cardinals over the past few seasons.

Even as Arizona's offensive line has continuously struggled to find even average-starter talent over the past few years; the franchise conceded the 5th most sacks in the league last season; Froholdt has proven himself to be a reliable pivot in the middle of the line.

Perhaps even more importantly, the former New England Patriot has remained healthy over the past three seasons, having started every single regular season outing Arizona since September 2023.

There is still work to be done on the rest of the Cardinals' offensive line. 31-year old right tackle Elijah Wilkinson is held by few as bona fide starter-quality, and guard Isaiah Adams still has much to prove if he is to remain in Arizona as a first-team player beyond this coming season.

But for now, having a player of Froholdt's quality down for the ensuing three seasons will take one more concern off the team's plate.
