A group of thieving black bears made a daring attempt to steal snacks and a pack of beer from a car outside a couple’s residence in Tennessee before being scared away.
A family of black bears was caught red-handed breaking into a white pickup truck by residents outside their home in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, on Oct. 14, causing a bit of destruction along the way.
Video captured by Pam Conley shows four bears poking around inside the truck, first pulling out a bag of snacks and then a six-pack of beer, which crashed onto the driveway pavement.
“We didn’t have a chance to unpack the truck yet, so of course, we had snacks in there, and they just helped themselves to granola bars, beer and Crunch ‘n Munch.”
At one point, the couple tried to approach and scare the bears away, but the bears briefly retaliated.

The homeowners tried to scare off the hungry intruders, but the bears weren’t interested. Pam Conley via StoryfulBlack bears are omnivores, eating both plants and animals.
They rely heavily on their sense of smell for finding food and can smell a food source from over two miles away, according to the National Park Service.
An effective way to scare a bear away is to hold your ground at a safe distance, look the bear in the eyes, raise your arms above your head to look larger and make loud noises.
