Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield will not be the scapegoat for your losing fantasy football team, even if you're a literal child.

Mayfield recently hosted his youth football camp at the Buccaneers' AdventHealth Training Center, and someone had the genius idea to mic him up for the day. Whoever pushed for that deserves a raise.

As expected, Mayfield shined. He may be locked in a contentious contract negotiation with the Bucs, but he hasn't lost his often-viral sense of humor.

Baker Mayfield #6 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

One kid said he was "never washing this hand ever again" after fist-bumping Mayfield, to which Mayfield deadpanned, "No, please wash your hands."

Another kid claimed, "I've been watching you since you hit the dougie in college." Mayfield said, "No, you haven't. When I hit the dougie in college, you weren't even born yet." (Mayfield starred at Oklahoma from 2015-17 before going No. 1 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.)

Mayfield provided encouragement to all the kids, football-related and otherwise, but he also leveled with one boy who asserted, "I took you first round in my fantasy for a reason" and challenged Mayfield not to let him down.

"Don't draft a quarterback in the first round," Mayfield said. "That's why your fantasy team is not doing well. You've got to go running back or receiver [in the] first round. You know this. Don't blame me! You have a bad draft."

Sound advice for fantasy players everywhere, but Tampa Bay residents will take a particular interest in what one extremely bold child who looked Baker Mayfield in the eyes and said, "Hey, I need a ring this season. You got me?" Mayfield responded, "I need a ring, too, man."

The Buccaneers looked like a Super Bowl contender when they got out to a 6-2 start last season, but everything fall apart down the stretch en route to a disappointing 8-9 finish. So, Mayfield and the Bucs have everything to prove in 2026, beginning in Cincinnati on Sept. 13.
