A terrifying freeway disaster unfolded Saturday morning in Irwindale when a semi-truck suddenly lost control, crossed the center divider on the 210 Freeway and slammed into multiple vehicles, leaving one woman dead and dozens of others hurt.

Dashcam footage obtained by ABC captured the moments before the catastrophic wreck near Irwindale.

The video appears to show the big rig drifting off the right shoulder before abruptly cutting across the freeway, barreling over the median and into oncoming traffic.

The out-of-control truck eventually jackknifed, shutting down lanes in both directions and creating a chaotic scene strewn with wreckage.

Video posted on the Citizen app showed the aftermath, with debris scattered across the roadway as emergency crews rushed to respond. Authorities said a 58-year-old woman was killed. 

Another 32 people suffered injuries, including 10 who were taken to hospitals. Six of those hospitalized were children.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at least three vehicles were involved in the crash, though investigators had not yet determined the exact number of vehicles caught up in the pileup.

The massive response forced closures on both sides of the freeway for hours before all lanes reopened shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the truck to lose control.

The California Post reached out to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner for comment.
